July 2027 Exam

Minnesota will be administering the NextGen UBE beginning in July 2027. Please be aware that laptop registration for NextGen will occur through NCBE. Registration for the July 2027 examination will open December 3, 2027. If you start, or have started, your Minnesota online bar application before that date, please answer “No” to question 6.01 which asks if you intend to use your laptop. If you answer “Yes,” the system will automatically charge you $100. The NextGen UBE is a fully online exam which will require registration of your laptop through NCBE.

Applicants granted testing accommodations may be tested at the same location (if there is adequate and appropriate space available) or at a different site (usually in downtown St. Paul).  Applicants will be advised of the site location approximately one month prior to the examination.

Filing deadlines

The timely filing deadline is Monday, March 1, 2027.
The late filing deadline is Thursday, April 1, 2027 ($300 late filing fee must be included if filing by this date unless you are a repeater. Repeaters do not need to pay the late filing fee. The filing deadline for applicants who were unsuccessful on the February 2027 exam is May 1, 2027).
